For the purposes of data protection law, I am the “data controller” of the personal data described in this policy.

1. What personal data I collect
Depending on how you use the Site, I may collect the following:
If you email me directly, I collect the information you choose to provide (e.g. name, email address, and the content of your message) in order to respond to you.
Cookies
If you visit the Site’s login page, a temporary cookie will be set to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will be set to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “remember me”, your login will persist for two weeks.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that other website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. I do not control this data collection, please refer to the privacy policy of the relevant third-party website.
Server logs
Like most websites, the Site’s hosting provider automatically logs technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of visit. This is used for security and troubleshooting purposes.
2. Why I collect this data (lawful basis)
I only process personal data where I have a lawful basis to do so under UK GDPR, specifically:
- Consent — for example, when you tick a box to save your details in a cookie, or Email me voluntarily.
- Legitimate interests — for example, keeping basic security logs, where this does not override your rights and interests.
Where I rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (see section 7).
3. Who I share your data with
I do not sell or rent your personal data. I may share data with:
- Website hosting provider – Namecheap processes data on my behalf to keep the Site running, including server logs.
- Third-party embeds – as described in section 1, embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos) is provided by third parties who may collect data independently of me.
- Legal requirements – if required by law, court order, or to protect my rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.
I do not knowingly transfer personal data outside the UK, except where a third-party service used above (e.g. an embedded platform) is based outside the UK. Where this happens, those providers are responsible for ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place under their own privacy policies.
4. How long I keep your data
- Email enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and are then deleted, unless I need to keep them for a legitimate reason (e.g. an ongoing correspondence).
- Cookies persist for the durations set out in section 1, after which they expire automatically.
- Server logs are typically retained for a short period for security purposes.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. The Site may use cookies as described in section 1.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the Site function.
6. What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this Site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
More broadly, under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this policy).
- Access the personal data I hold about you.
- Rectification — ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — ask me to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”), subject to certain exemptions.
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact me using the details in the introduction, including “DATA REQUEST” in the subject. I will respond within one month, as required by law.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator:
Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Website: ico.org.uk Helpline: 0303 123 1113.
8. Data security
I take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal data I hold from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including keeping the Site’s software up to date. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s privacy
This Site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to me, please contact me and I will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
I may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the Site or legal requirements. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will indicate when it was last revised. I encourage you to review this page periodically.
